The blank screen is blank

It's resisting my efforts to make an entertaining post. Probably a natural result of waking up sick and going to work anyway.  I wonder what I ate that had wheat or corn in it?

I guess the continuing blankness of my screen is a sign that I should go get wet (I know there's some soap and conditioner waiting for me), and then sleep. There's work to do tomorrow. And more stupid heating logistics.

So, what's your favorite holiday cookie?  Special bonus points for recipes with no wheat and no corn!

Butterballs! My mother makes them, and my husband and I both try to get to the post office first so we can hoard them for ourselves - hers have nuts in them, and are while balls rolled in powdered sugar. SO good. Alas, they rely on flour, so no bonus points for me!

I wonder if it would work with brown rice flour, or buckwheat flour?

This sounds vaguely, possibly like something my mom made for us as kids. Do you happen to have the recipe I can peek at??

It may be this recipe (with the addition of nuts):

But I can't say whether or not my mother has modified hers - she usually does!

My favorite holiday cookies are hamentashen, but I don't think that's the holiday you're looking for. :)

My favorite flourless cookies are nut-butter cookies -- one cup nut butter or nut meal, one cup sugar, one egg, maybe some salt, baking powder, or flavoring if you like. You may want to twiddle the proportions -- different nuts have different amounts of oil. They're generally rich and crumbly.

I'm good with all the holidays, if they have cookies, and if they're friendly to kibitzers.

Those cookies sound yummy!

No flour, no corn. Nuts are variable (I don't put them in but you can): Forgotten Cookies!

They are dead-easy, tasty and make easy, inexpensive and tasty gifts. I really think the dried cranberries give it a nice touch but you don't even have to put that in.
