One of my temp employers had a day where people could bring in hazardous trash (old paint, pesticides, etc.), and so I got rid of some of the clutter that's been in this house since I bought it.

I've found homes for all the kittens, the last one other than the one I'm keeping will be picked up Monday.  Now I just need to find a home for Mama.

My Angel got the remedial lawn mowing done, so now we don't have grass that's tall enough to hide a not-so-small child; the new lawnmower shreds things much better than the old so the compost composts faster too, besides being cordless and a lot less hassle to use.  Not that we needed the expense, but we did need a new lawnmower; the body of the old one was held together with multiple layers of duct tape.

I have a three day weekend, and about a month worth of projects calling me.  There's a closet that needs scraping, plaster work, and paint; a yard that needs work, including weeding the garden and planting some plants, and a bunch of stories that need attention.

Also, Torn World is having a "create a city" contest and I have one partially painted scene that could be developed into a city, with some text. and a totally different idea that I have partially written.

Why do I so often do things backward like that?  A little of this and a little of that, and not always the stuff that belongs together?

Sometimes bringing the disparate things together leads to cool creative work, one way or another, but more often it pulls me in two different directions because there's really no way to combine them, and a person has only so much time.

Anyway, to my writer and artist friends, you, too, can enter Torn World contests.  It's might be a little late to try to enter this one, since the deadline is midnight on the last day of May, in whatever Alaska time-zone Ellen lives in, and this time each entry requires both text and art.  But if you're interested in entering some world-building contests, they're announced on the forums at tornworld.net.  And, if interest is expressed, I'll put links here to the new contests as they are announced.

And finally, these poppies are in planters outside one of my temp jobs; I couldn't resist taking a few pictures after work.

Woke up with a headache; ate and took medicine and it's slowly getting better.  I sure hopes it goes away, since I've got a LOT to do!

Hooray for the poppies. They look like watercolours.

I woke up with a nasty headache too. I'm just glad it was today (weekend) and not tomorrow (work day with one person down). I hope your headache went away and you were able to have a good day.

Good luck getting things done during your long weekend!

So far, the adventures of the weekend haven't been the expected ones! I'll post later. :-D

Thought you'd like to know that she's currently curled up, half on my leg and half on my arm, giving both of us a bath (alternating back and forth) :) Also? Kitten tongues on the wrist TICKLE! :)
