Every work day, my computer lies to me

You see it tells me there are two strong public free wifi channels where I normally eat lunch. So I should have no trouble getting a peek at the internet over lunch, right?

Wrong. Even after my computer connects to one of those inviting five-bar options, and even when it doesn't warn me that there is little to no connectivity, I cannot access anything at all.

When I had the foresight to load two or three pages of my friends page before I set the laptop to hibernate and left home, I can read your words--at least the ones not under a cut. It's better than nothing.

But it's not satisfying. I can't vote in a poll, I can't comment, I can't follow any links or open any cuts.

But I wanted to say, I may be commenting less, but I'm still thinking of you all!

I don't suppose you can disable them for your own display, but still use them in your posts? I don't much like them, but when I forget to cut-tag a story, I inevitably get a request to use them (or a kind, public service announcement-type comment telling me how to use them).

Yep, you sure can! I still use cut-tags on very long posts or ones with large images.

I don't actually remember where you have to go to stop cut-tags from hiding entries on your friends list. I had to ask level_head how to do it and I *still* can't find the option on my own. O_O
