Come on in, the water's fine!

Have you ever thought about writing in Torn World, but felt intimidated by the amount of stuff we have there to keep track of? Or maybe you just aren't sure that it's the right world for you, and you're not ready to commit? Or perhaps you just don't want to worry about being canon or even finishing the story?

Would you like a free-form writing (or art) exercise, and a place to share the results?

We're trying something new at Torn World - a free-form weekly writing prompt. You don't have to register as a creator, you only have to register in the forums, read the prompt, spend no more than a half-hour creating, and share.

At the least, you're welcome to stop by and read what people share: http://www.tornworld.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=960

But I really hope you'll stop by and play with us!

To be honest, yes, one of the reasons I haven't jumped into Torn World is simply because the sheer scale of it is rather daunting. It's not like a good series of novels, which has a linear narrative and, thus, a clear start and end point, but it's a whole body of not just stories, but multiple backgrounds and contexts blending together in a fashion that, for an outsider, can seem really bewildering.

That richness is part of what attracted met to Torn World, but I can understand people finding it a bit daunting.

I hope you'll stop in and write something to one of our weekly prompts. No pressure to be canon, just to have Torn World inspiration.

No need to be fiction either--poetry and art are welcome!

You would also be welcome to design a carion-eater for Torn World, and submit it to our current contest. The canon board can figure out where it would fit into the ecology!
