I agree. One of my goals was to pick funny-colored tomatoes to reduce theft (I am pleased to feed the homeless, but I want to get to taste the fruits of my labors), but beauty is an even better reason.

Offhand, I'd guess most of the garden burglars are ~not~ homeless,
just assholes.

I know my neighborhood. I would guess most here are genuinely hungry, even if not homeless (even the squirrels).

I know my neighborhood.

Better than I do,
I must admit...

Nom nom tomatoes! They look delicious! @_@ I hope to grow tomatoes or something when I finish moving. I would love to have an edible garden!

They were delicious. And there's more growing, though not all are the northern lights variety.

I find that gardening is good for the spirit. I encourage you to set up a garden, edible or not, indoor or outdoor. Let me know if you have questions.

Fresh produce! Yum!
I"m understandably curious as to what type of back room you have that can grow tomatoes. (And more than a little jealous seeing as I haven't been able to get a garden going for the last three years.)

These look fabulous BTW! :-)

Re: Fresh produce! Yum!
These plants were in pots on the second floor (outdoor) porch over the summer. Now they're inside with the two lonely grow-lights I found at Menards (those are on a timer), windows, and a ceiling light (that's on when I remember it in the morning). The "rain" is poured from reused orange juice containers, filled in the kitchen sink. But the plants don't care about how they get their light and water.

The tomatoes (so far) aren't very big, but they are yummy.

I need to find my pea seeds and plant some of those too. :-D

I can hope! However, I don't have an indoor beehive, so maybe not...
