New Moon Card Draw

It's a New Moon tonight, so I am once again offering to draw cards with the hope of sending some good energy out into the world, to spark some hope and creativity. You can ask about real life or a creative project. I can draw a card for you to meditate on, to represent the Guide you need right now, or to get you unstuck. I can draw a card for a character or can draw a card or cards for you to use as writing or art prompts.

I hope you will stop by my garden. It was wonderfully warm for a few days, but then a storm blew in with thunder and rain, and now it's snowing. But it's nice and warm inside. I have a little round glass table that's etched with a dragon design; we can sit there by candle light or turn the lava lamps on. You and I can share hot chocolate or tea and chat, and you can get a reading if you would like one. Or we could make art together, or sing songs. Both new friends and old are welcome.

Until the end of the weekend, for free one card readings, you can pick from the Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle, my combined Susan Seddon Boulet Animal Spirits and Goddesses cards, or the Shapeshifter Tarot. You can ask a question, ask for a Guide, ask for inspiration, or you can just ask for a card. I don't need to know what your question is, but you are welcome to share it with me if you like.

If I get $50 in tips, I'll use the cards I draw to inspire a painting, and I'll post progress drawings here for you all to see. So far I've received $25 of $50 for this drawing.

The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). Tips also let you ask me to use any of my other decks, to request a private reading, or to draw a clarifying card. If you want a longer reading, send a direct message so we can agree on the type of reading and rate.

Please consider dropping something in the guitar case below. Readings take time and energy, and even though the Milwaukee winter, like everything else, has been affected by global warming, winter heat is pricey and old houses always need repair somewhere or other. Signal boosts are very much appreciated, and also earn you the right to ask for a clarifying card.

I understand all too well that when people don't have cash or spoons that is generally when they most need inspiration! Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.

If you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your paypal information with your request. Tips should be at least $1 (Paypal charges fees). If that doesn't work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something else out.

I've written before about why I do readings and some of the decks I use here, feel free to hop over and check me out. I'll wait.

I will reply to all requests. In the highly unlikely event that the number of requests nears my limits, I'll close this card draw by adding a clear note at the top of the post rather than risk leaving anyone without a response. This weekend, there's a rally for health care and a house filk on Saturday, so there may be a bit of a wait if you leave your request while I'm out. However, I intend to stay open at least through Sunday night, and longer for paid readings since, between the holidays and being in these days of low LJ usage, people may find the post late.

Thank you, and Blessed Be!

As always, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

Hmm, looking for some inspiration, I'm in the middle of writing a short piece exploring three characters in a society tearing itself apart, trying to figure out what happens next with my young superpowered girl Tonya, and pondering a few other projects.

Either the Whimsical Tarot or Shapeshifters (just dropped $5 in the case).

Four of Pentacles
From the Whimsical Tarot

The image is a dog on a bridge, looking down at the bone she just dropped. The whole scene is reflected in the stream below. Water lilies, flowers, and a dragonfly look on serenely, but the dog isn't serene at all. It wants the bone back, though there is no meat on it, but, you know, it's a bone, and what dog wants to let go of a bone, even if they have a dozen of them?

Indeed, that dog sure looks like it is thinking of jumping off the bridge to get that bone, but if it does, the scene won't be at all serene any more, and the bone will probably be lost anyway. Bones don't swim, after all. But--but--it's a BONE!

I have put a donation in the guitar case.

May I please have another visit from the Faerie Deck in honour of my birthday which was on the 23rd?

Thank you.

Losgunna, the Frog Queen
Happy birthday! Come in, come in, I have some excellent gluten free chocolate chip cookies--probably the closest thing I have to chocolate cake right now--if you want to indulge.

While we discuss refreshments, Losgunna hops in. She shifts between frog and human form fluidly and gracefully, but mostly she has the patterned powerful hind legs of a frog and a human face, upper body and hands. She smiles at us, and an unexpectedly long tongue shoots out and claims a cookie, which she then holds daintily in webbed fingers to nibble at politely.

"Isn't it wonderful?" she asks you.

"Um--it?" You're not at all sure what she's talking about.

"The adventure you're about to embark upon! Oh, wait, you have no idea yet, do you?" She turns to me. "You humans can't see through the waters of time; I keep forgetting how limited you are."

She turns back to you. "But still, you're not as limited as you think you are. You'll see. I know you will. And soon! You just need to be open to the messages of your dreams, and willing to explore both here--" She points to her forehead under her flower-crown. "--and out there!" She waved vaguely out at the world, or at my library, or perhaps at faerie itself, which sometimes opens into my garden.

Thank you.

This sounds a bit like 'try everything.'

Re: Losgunna, the Frog Queen
She smiles at you.

"Well, no, not necessarily--but that's a lot better than not trying anything! And there may be some things that didn't work for you before that could work now."

Ffaff the Ffooter
Ffaff is sitting on a mushroom, rubbing his long, skinny feet with his long, strong fingers. "Even I can get tired, you know," he says. "Gotta take care of the feet, gotta eat right, gotta exercise and practice your violin and drive safe and stay grounded and--Did you know that your young folks hereabouts don't take care of themselves properly? And they don't listen to faery-folk at all, mostly. Not even if I follow them around all day!"

Then he smiles up at you. "But you won't make me follow you around all day, whispering reminders into your ear, right?"

Re: Ffaff the Ffooter
I even have a userpic of feet! :-D

I take care of my feet - it's hard to find shoes that fit comfortably, so I wear sandals a lot, and I treasure the comfortable closed shoes I do have. I just recently bought a new pair, lighter and less utilitarian-looking than the waterproof shoes I wear in rain or snow, and they make me very happy. I don't eat "right" by any standard reckoning, but I know I'm eating "right" for my body, because it's not complaining. I don't exercise, but I do practice my singing and my ukulele, and I drive safely. My "young people" (my son, who's nearly 38) is, if anything, more inclined to listen to the faeries than I am, although he did learn it from me. Please don't follow me around all day! That will just make me wilfully ignore you, which wouldn't do either of us any good!

Thank you both :-)

Re: Ffaff the Ffooter
Oh, how cool! The icon, I mean.

I suspect, if Ffaff is here, there might be some element of self-care or grounding and centering that needs a little more attention from you than usual, but Ffaff himself seems quite content with your response.

Re: Ffaff the Ffooter
Long ago, the icon was a private joke between me and my Australian friend sheramil - in fact, he sent me the graphic, which was from some sort of weird comic, probably Japanese. All I did was change the navy blue to purple, and make it the proper size :-)

I did get the message of self-care, which is something both my husband and I need to remind each other to do. But I have been trying to pay attention to it - and I recently got the beginnings of an idea for a filk about safe driving (not that I'm a filker, though). I'm very glad Ffaff was content with my response. Maybe someday he'd be willing to let me get to know him a little better; he seems like a fascinating person :-)

Re: Ffaff the Ffooter
I'm sure he'd be glad to get to know you better too. These fairies posed to be drawn for cards, after all, and he showed up in a reading for you.

Re: please no card for me
It is, indeed, the time to be planting, and I did a bit of that earlier today.

I loved your images of the shape shifter toad and the lawyer toad, and then did the readings and found the Frog Queen visiting too. I'll keep your word-pictures in mind as well as the cards, if I get enough tips to owe you all a painting.

I also had heard of the phenomenon, though I had not hear them called Tulpa. Thanks for the link!

Seeker of Fire
Thank you!

For you, I draw the Seeker of Fire in the Shapeshifter Tarot, which is the eleventh card of the fire element. This corresponds with the Page of Swords in a standard Tarot deck, but the imagery is much less warlike than the average Page of Swords. In the background, is sun, a blue-eyed redhead with feathers in her hair--or perhaps she's a griffin, though all you can see is her eye, a hint of nose and ear, and the exuberant, bright hair and feathers. In the foreground is a leaping centaur, his arms uplifted in celebration. Below him are huge sunflowers.

This is a strong, joyous card, a card of transformation through growth and creativity instead of through war or strife. It might signify news, as the pages are messengers, but if that's so, I don't know what the news might be or who it's from--or perhaps you are to be the messenger?

The feeling I am getting from this card in this moment is: Eat and drink of the bounty that grows from the earth, blessed by wind and rain and sun. Sing, dance, drink in the energy of the universe, stop to smell the flowers, sure, but not forever--there's things to do and places to go.
