#@$**#$!!! html

So, last night I posted a new chapter of Fireborn, and was all pleased that I'd figured out that the donate button never (or almost never) works if I paste it in the first time, so I just put ***donate button goes here*** and then went back in to edit the button in.  That was ever so much faster!  Then I realized I'd forgotten to put the bulk of the story behind a cut tag, so I did that.  I was all happy until I went back to check things, and found that I had FIVE cut-tags.

What the heck?

I was still fighting the sore throat and headache thing last night, so I left it alone.  Today, I was a good girl and first spent time looking for jobs to apply for online.  More frustrating than usual, as there's hardly anything out there so far this week.  I eventually found some possibilities, the first of which (naturally) wanted me to type out my history on their website.  Ok, boring but necessary.   And time consuming.  And then answer some questions--great, after filling in that part, the page kept giving me a 404 error every time I tried to send it.  Go back and add cover letter to answer questions.  Go to Frustration.  Go directly to Frustration.  Do not pass Go or collect $200 (or any other salary).  Repeat.  Repeat again.  Where's my Get Out Of Frustration Free card?

OK, I'm done with that for today.  Maybe people will post jobs on Monday.

Then--oh, yeah, I have that Unexpected html Mystery to fix in my story still.  Need I say I was not in the best of moods to stare at html?

But it's done now, so I feel better.

I think I'll go check my e-mail to see who's commented on the story.  Comments cheer me immensely.

Isn't that job search thing excruciating? That is why I would sometime just go bonkers and not be able to force myself to do it for periods of time. Try having that happen 20 times in a day!

I don't know why we can't just have some kind of program on our computers automatically fill those things out. After doing all of that work, they almost never, ever, even send you back even the slightest recognition.

Yeah, it is frustrating. You'd need an AI to do it automatically, since everyone's form is different.

Right now I'd be happy to find 20 jobs in one day that fit my experience closely enough that I thought it wasn't a waste of time to apply. There's so many people looking right now that in lots of jobs that I'm well-qualified to do, they can find someone else whose experience is a closer match to exactly what they will be doing at the job, so they go with that person.

I think I mentioned the law office that "last time we had an opening we had about a dozen resumes" but this time they had over 200? Out of that over 200 I did get an interview, but they hired someone else.

If I had an AI applying for jobs for me, I'd have to make sure it liked me! If it didn't, that could be really creepy.

It is awful. I was out of work for 15 months.

One thing that helps is to have your job history handy in a format that makes it easy to cut-and-paste into web forms.

Doesn't work when they have all these little blanks to fill in! And they don't all ask the same questions either.

I have no Get Out Of Frustration Free card.

But I do have a useful if often snarky deck of cards around here somewhere, so, have:
A child places the last piece into a jigsaw puzzle, on which is depicted the classic Rider-Waite image of the World.
Meaning: Everything is about to fall into place the way it should.

Oh, that sounds hopeful! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the frustrations you've been going through. :( Nothing helpful to say except I hope that it gets better soon for you.

Oh, life provides frustrations. Just the way it is. So you deal with them, and vent, and get over it.

I'm much more cheerful now, I've declared a short story finished, having read it out loud to My Angel and finding it good, with almost no changes needed.

Ah good, glad you have been able to move through it and even get a short story finished too :) Hooray for Your Angel listening to your story. Does she give you suggestions for your stories too?
