Inspire Me!

I really enjoyed the Torn World Muse Fusion. I wasn't inspired by all the prompts (which gives me a huge amount of respect for ysabetwordsmith , who always manages to write to at least one prompt from each prompter during her poetry fishbowls), but I was inspired by enough of them to do a lot of good work in one day.

So, I still don't know what I'm doing tomorrow.  I might be getting a call to do some temporary work.  Or I might not.  The agency called me just before five to see if I was available, and then just after five to say their client wanted to look at more than one resume, and pick between them.  They hoped they'd get word over the weekend; since they didn't, they'll call me very early tomorrow.

If I'm not replacing some executive's sick secretary all day, I'd like to do a day of intense writing--and I'm inviting you to participate by giving me prompts.

Ysabet usually has one theme; mine is speculative fiction.  Within that, however, specific prompts would be appreciated in the following seven areas (I like sevens):

Music
Eastern
Gender-bending
Traffic
Urban Fantasy
Mages
Antihero

So, you can choose your favorite area, or prompt me in as many of these areas as you want.

My plan is to submit these stories to professional and semipro markets.  If I use your prompt, I'll share the story with you privately.  If anyone sponsors this effort, I'll share all the stories and poems I write from these prompts with you privately.

And if I do have a temporary day job, I'll still do this, but I'll have to spread the writing time out over a few days.

So please, inspire me!

Of course I'd have to go for Gender Bending. And if you finish other people's and have time, maybe Urban Fantasy.

I hope you do get a call to do some temp work, that would at least give you something to put on your resume and a bit of money in the pocket.

*fingers crossed*

Oh, please, don't just pick a category--give me some inspiration within the category. What "gender-bending" thing or idea would you like to see used in a story?

Is there a type of character you'd like me to write about? A setting? A type of event? A plot conundrum?

Do you have an anecdote or photo or news story that might inspire me to start a story?

Ah, I get it now. Sorry! I didn't understand how to do this. :)

So for Gender Bending.....how about something with a Coyote-type character that cross dresses/appears female to steal some tasty treat from the other women (ie--other women are preparing something and he thinks by disguising himself as a woman he can get some) but one (all?) the women figure it out and put something in so he's stuck as a woman (for a certain time or until he learns some lesson??) It can be set in any time/universe you want for that one, I don't have any specific ideas.

For the urban fantasy if you do get to that one, something about someone (kid or adult??) notices a spider web and gets 'pulled in' or caught in an alternate world (insects or giant plants or just alternate universe????). Is that enough for that one or should I try to come up with a bit more?

Well, I have a gender-bending story done. Now to figure out how best to share it with you, since it's way too long for a direct message!

Marai's stories have made me wonder how deaf people think of music.

For Eastern, maybe a look at an Eastern mythological figure, like the Kitsune?

For Traffic - how would traffic lights work in 3D for a species that has mastered flight?

Thing is, I want to participate. I get silly ideas like the antihero's shopping list. I have nothing real to suggest just yet.

I did a signal boost also. Hope that gets some traffic until I get an idea or two.

Twitter is being a butt. night_sky_bliss@yahoo.com

It is snowing here. I am going to be away from the computer for a while. Can we tag team on email with delay periods? That might work better. I need to not be on the net. I can't focus.

This isn't an original idea, I know, but I've always been fascinated by the concept of sung, rather than spoken or chanted, spells. Which means you'd need musical training to become a mage, if that's what works.

Does this do anything for your Muse? :)

Ah, another person who can't resist fixing typos! :-D

So far, I think Ellen's music prompt is tickling the back of my brain. But we'll see...there may be some cross-pollination!
